Electrical & Mechanical
Mechanical and Electrical was a firstly uses for as a distributor for motors controls. Since then, several initiatives have been undertaken in the past few years to increase the amount of renewable or other non-hydrocarbon-based energy inputs to the grid with Micro Grids; the primary players in the initiative are Biomass, Solar, and Wind. Biomass, a renewable energy source, is biological material derived from living, or recently living organisms, such as wood, waste, gas, and alcohol fuels. Wind and solar generation systems, tend to produce a smaller amount of power in an out of controlled mode or fashion. The power production is related to the environment and the system inputs, i.e. with higher wind, windmills run at higher speeds or frequency, and with the brighter sun, solar systems increase in DC voltage. The smaller power outputs, and lower costs, of renewable energy, can be turned into an advantage by creating distributed power generation systems, which are large numbers of small generators spread out over a geographic area. This type of distributed system particularly those coupled with an energy storage device such as a battery can reduce loads on the grid and maximize energy usage while greatly reducing energy losses in power transmission lines.
Electrical and Mechanical is a technology that in its most general form can be defined as miniaturized mechanical and electro-mechanical elements (i.e., devices and structures) that are made using the techniques of microfabrication. The critical physical dimensions of Electrical and Mechanical devices can vary from well below one micron on the lower end of the dimensional spectrum, all the way to several millimeters. Likewise, the types of Electrical and Mechanical devices can vary from relatively simple structures having no moving elements, to extremely complex electromechanical systems with multiple moving elements under the control of integrated microelectronics. The one main criterion of MEMS is that at least some elements are having some sort of mechanical functionality whether or not these elements can move. The term used to define Electrical and Mechanical varies in different parts of the world. In the United States, they are predominantly called Electrical and Mechanical, while in some other parts of the world they are called “Microsystems Technology” or “micromachined devices”. Since mechanical engineering is the broadest of all engineering fields, the job prospects on offer for skilled mechanical engineers are aplenty and unending. Mechanical engineers are required to design, test, manufacture, install, operate and maintain a wide array of machines and mechanical systems that are used in countless industries. These professionals can find employment both in the government and private sector undertakings.

To be online means using a computer or other device connected through a voice or data network, to access information and services from another computer or information device.

Water
India, home to 16 percent of the world’s population, has only 2.5 percent of the world’s land area and 4 percent of the world’s water resources at its disposal. Precipitation in the form of rain and snowfall provides over 4,000 trillion litres of freshwater to India1. Most of these freshwater returns to the seas and ocean via the many large rivers flowing across the subcontinent. A portion of this water is absorbed by the soil and is stored in underground aquifers. A much smaller percentage is stored in inland water bodies both natural (lakes and ponds) and man-made (tanks and reservoirs). Of the 1,869 trillion litres of water reserves, only an estimated 1,122 trillion litres can be exploited due to topographic constraints and distribution effects2. The water demand has been increasing at a high pace in the past few decades. The current consumption in the country is approximately 581 trillion litres with irrigation requirements accounting for a staggering 89 percent followed by domestic use at 7 percent and industrial use at 4 percent 3. The per capita availability of water has significantly come down and is likely to come down further with the growing population and demand. As per the Ministry of Water Resources per capita, water availability in 2025 and 2050 is estimated to come down by almost 36 percent and 60 percent respectively of the 2001 levels. The Indian hospitality industry has emerged as one of the key industries driving the growth of the services sector in India. It has evolved into an industry that is sensitive to the needs and desires of people. The fortunes of the hospitality industry have always been linked to the prospects of the tourism industry and tourism is the foremost demand driver of the industry. The Indian hospitality industry has recorded healthy growth fuelled by robust inflow of foreign tourists as well as increased tourist movement within the country and it has become one of the leading players in the global industry. Foreign tourist arrivals (FTAs) into the country increased steadily from 2002 to 2008. FTAs dipped in 2009, due to the global economic slowdown; however, the impact on the Indian industry was much lower than that on the global counterparts. FTAs are expected to increase in 2010. On the other hand, domestic tourist movement within the country was the highest in 2009. The prospects for the hotel industry in India are bright. With the revival in the global economy, international tourist inflow into the country is expected to rise. Additionally, hosting international sports events and trade fairs, and exhibitions in the country is expected to aid both inflows of international tourists and the domestic tourist movement. While there is immense potential, concerns for the growth of the industry remain. These include high real estate prices in the country, security threats, shortage of manpower, high tax structure, and non-uniformity in taxes.

The upcoming industrial parks, manufacturing facilities, and ports across the country provide a good opportunity for budget and mid-market hotels. Although around 89,500 additional rooms are expected to come up in India in the next five years, the supply of branded/quality rooms in India is much lower compared to other countries across the globe. Hence, there exists huge potential for investors and operators across all the segments of the hotel industry in India. The increase in room inventories is expected to make the hotel industry more competitive and hotels would be under pressure to maintain quality and service levels at competitive prices. Competitive pricing amongst the branded hotels along with the addition of more budget and mid-market hotels would make the hotel industry cost-competitive with other destinations. This would aid the growth of segments such as MICE, amongst others India is one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. It recorded healthy growth in the past few years, at more than 9% each during FY06-FY08. Despite the global economic slowdown, the Indian economy clocked a growth of 6.7% and 7.4% in Fy09 and FY10 respectively. The attractiveness of India has encouraged foreign players to set up their operational facilities in the country. Domestic industries have also made heavy investments to expand their facilities through greenfield and brownfield projects.
